Choosing to go to college can be one of the most challenging decisions of one’s life. Where do I start? Without a plan or process to follow, you run the risk of making some painful and expensive errors. What does your plan look like? Are you going to your parents’ alma mater, or do you want to go a different direction? Big school or small school? Do you have special interests and goals or are you still defining your career path? Are there other areas to consider such as learning disabilities or physical challenges that factor into the mix?
 
All these questions need to be considered when making a decision of this magnitude. With clear goals, defined parameters, parental & teacher support and tenacity, your can pick a college that will fit your needs and help you reach your goals.
 
Bill Johnson, The College Selection Coach, is committed to assisting students in this process. His service is individually tailored to the educational wants and needs of the student. Bill provides individual coaching, interest assessment testing and workshops designed to assist with the more challenging areas of this process, including:
 
    • Planning Your High School Curriculum:
• Preparation for college starts long before the first visit to State U! Colleges and universities are looking for students who are prepared in a number of areas and who are able to show growth in their academic performance. Bill will work with the student and parents to determine what areas to strengthen and where to be less concerned.
• Making a Good Campus Visit
• Bill will provide you with a strategy for making the most of your campus visits. Armed with our proven check-list of key items and questions, you will be able to evaluated each visit and assess each college and university on its own merits and then be able to easily compare and contrast, in order to find a good fit.
• Completing the College Admissions Application and Essay
• Now that you have chosen a school that is right for you, it is time to complete the Admissions Application and Essay. The College Selection Coach is available to assist you with editing, review of topics and general support as you complete the applications, monitor deadlines, meet with admissions counselors and obtain recommendations from past teachers. Let Bill advice you and your application will stand out in a very crowded field.
