| Life Transition Series Presents: College Selections & Admissions Day-long Workshop Who: This workshop is designed with the 10th and 11th grader in mind. However, Freshman who are curious about life after high school and for Seniors who are either struggling with what to do after high school, will find this a meaningful day, too. What Am I going to get out of this workshop? This workshop is a more in depth meeting based on our 90 minutes workshop with the same title. The high school student will be challenged to make an action plan and set academic goals that will greatly enhance the students position when applying to colleges. Also, well explore the wide variety of post high school options to meet life goals by looking at differing career and trends. We believe that this will encourage excellence in high school. The students will practice filling out college applications, role-play the college interview, review our College Visit Checklist and insights on how to relate to College Admissions Officers. When: TBA Demystifying the College Admissions Process: for high school sophomores and juniors Learn how to best prepare yourself for the college admission process, through careful planning during your high school years. This workshop addresses high school course selection, extracurricular activities, what to look for when making a college visit, choosing the college that best fits your needs, admissions applications and essays, and pointers for when preparing for the SAT/ACT exam. When: TBA Transitioning out of High School to College: for Graduating Seniors and Parents Your senior year is coming to a close. You have decided upon a college -or you need to! Perhaps youve already selected a dorm room. Now what? Join us for an important workshop that answers questions you may not know you were asking. Questions about: Roommates; Successfully completing the first semester; time management; whether or not to join the Greek system; relating to professors and faculty; Coed dorms, Sexuality and other ethical concerns. This workshop also addresses homesickness; money and credit cards; Drugs, Alcohol and Rock & Roll; Religion, God, Campus Crusade and the Moonies; Student government, music, working and athletics, etc. When: TBA Parents have new roles too! Your child is facing a number of new and exciting things. We will discuss ways to stay connected with your child and how to be supportive around a number of issues including: money; cults and fraternities; the Deans office; social networks; physical and mental health assistance, tutoring and vocational assistance, and when Junior comes home for the holidays. This workshop provides parents with a separate forum to discuss these and other issues as they work through the process of sending a child off to college. When: TBA |
